Young emerging artist Mohamed Ahnach, winner of the grand prize in the second edition of the TV show « Dream Artist » broadcast on 2M, is set to captivate his audience once again. After securing the grand prize, Ahnach has chosen the vibrant city of Casablanca to showcase his latest works. His exhibition, « Hajine – Hydride, » will be held at the American Arts Center from March 5 to April 13, 2024. This unique exhibition features fifty artworks and installations, all created using an extraordinary medium: animal bones.
The Artistic Vision: Exploring Existence
To bring his artistic vision to life, Mohamed Ahnach utilizes skulls of cattle, sheep, and goats, complemented by photographs. Through his exhibition, the artist challenges the human condition, prompting viewers to reflect on existence. « Death has always been at the forefront of my daily concerns. Today, it is tangibly manifested in my works, » he explains. For Ahnach, the invisibility of death adds a unique dimension to existence, a concept he subtly integrates into several of his installations. « I surrounded the eye sockets of the skulls with numerous small bones to demonstrate the invisibility of death, » he elaborates.
Multidisciplinary Approach: Beyond the Given World
Ahnach, a native of Khénifra, is a multidisciplinary artist who believes that humans strive to become what they are not and to transcend the world they are given. This existential angst is both an anxiety about life as a whole and about death as the end of life, as life is constantly confronted with death. According to Ahnach, existence itself is intertwined with death, which in turn nourishes renewal.
Critical Acclaim: A Unique Artistic Approach
Amine Boushaba, journalist and curator of the « Hajine » exhibition, praises Ahnach’s unique artistic approach, which he says harkens back to the birth of art. « His works evoke the first creative act of humanity and herald the dawn of civilization, » Boushaba notes. Like an archaeologist, Ahnach unearths the earliest traces of art and projects them into our contemporary world. « Few artistic approaches manage to probe the fragility and permanence of existence with such depth and subtlety, » Boushaba adds.
Conclusion: A Profound Journey
Mohamed Ahnach’s « Hajine – Hydride » is not just an exhibition; it is a profound journey into the core of human existence, exploring life, death, and the renewal that lies within. His use of animal bones as a medium is both a bold and evocative choice, ensuring that his work leaves a lasting impact on all who experience it.
